IT Support for Law Firms

IT Support for Law Firms

Attorney reviewing printed legal documents at an office desk

Your clients trust your firm with the most sensitive information they have. Your bar holds you to a duty of technology competence. And your calendar is built around deadlines that do not move because a server did not come back up. Law firm IT is not general office IT with a different logo on the invoice, and it should not be supported like it is.

Cyber Command provides managed IT services for law firms across Central Florida and beyond: a helpdesk staffed by real people around the clock, security operations designed around client confidentiality, and practical help with the obligations your bar, your clients, and your insurance carrier already hold you to.

A Helpdesk That Answers When Deadlines Will Not Wait

Filing gets done at 8 p.m. more often than anyone admits. When a document management system locks up the night before a hearing, a ticket queue is not support. Our business IT services are built around a 24/7, US-based helpdesk with no phone trees and no offshore queues: you call, a person answers, and that person can actually fix things.

We supportClioMyCaseNetDocumentsiManageMicrosoft 365and more

What that looks like day to day:

  • Your practice and document management platforms supported and kept fast
  • Microsoft 365, e-signature tools, and secure remote access for attorneys working from home or the courthouse
  • The ordinary machinery of a firm handled too, including the printer that always fails during trial prep
  • Attorney and staff onboarding and offboarding treated as the security event it is, not a paperwork task

Security Designed Around Client Confidentiality

Model Rule 1.6(c) expects lawyers to make reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorized disclosure of client information. Reasonable efforts in 2026 mean someone is actually watching.

The human-managed security operations center behind our law firm clients monitors for the patterns that hurt firms most:

  • Compromised email accounts used to redirect wire instructions
  • Unusual sign-in activity against document management systems
  • Malware that arrives dressed as a court notice or opposing counsel's attachment

Firms that touch real estate closings or hold funds in trust are prime targets for wire fraud, so we put particular weight on phishing-resistant multifactor authentication, email authentication controls, and verification procedures around any change to payment instructions.

No provider can honestly promise your firm will never have an incident. What we build is designed to reduce that risk substantially, and to make sure that if something does happen, it is noticed in minutes rather than discovered months later in a client’s subpoena.

Help With the Rules Your Firm Actually Answers To

Law firm team discussing compliance requirements in an office

You do not need a lecture about compliance. You need the technical side handled so the obligations are meetable. Three examples of where we help:

  • ABA Formal Opinion 483 addresses a lawyer's duty to notify clients after a data breach involving their information. We help firms build the monitoring and incident response groundwork that makes honest, timely notification possible.
  • The Florida Information Protection Act (Fla. Stat. 501.171) generally requires notice to affected individuals within 30 days of determining a breach occurred. Thirty days disappears quickly without logs, an inventory of affected data, and a response plan that already exists.
  • Florida Bar members must complete technology CLE hours as part of their reporting cycle, and Comment 8 to Model Rule 1.1 ties competence to understanding the benefits and risks of relevant technology. We serve as the standing technical resource behind that competence.

We also complete the technical sections of cyber insurance applications with you, and implement the controls carriers now expect before they will write or renew a policy: multifactor authentication, endpoint detection, tested backups, and documented response plans. Cyber Command helps your firm address these obligations; we do not give legal advice, and we will not pretend any product can carry that responsibility for you.

Keep Your Office Manager, Add an IT Department

Plenty of firms have one technical person, sometimes an office administrator who became the IT department by accident. Co-managed IT keeps that person in the role they are good at while our team takes on patching, security monitoring, after-hours coverage, and the projects that never leave the someday list. Your staff keeps institutional knowledge; ours brings depth and around-the-clock hours.

Serving Law Firms Across Central Florida

Cyber Command is headquartered in Winter Springs and supports law firms in Orlando, Tampa Bay, and Jacksonville, with remote-first support and on-site help when hands need to touch hardware. If your firm is elsewhere in Florida or beyond, most of what we do travels well; it is worth a conversation.

Law Firm IT Questions, Answered

What does IT support cost for a small law firm? Most firms pay a fixed monthly fee per user that covers helpdesk, management of your systems, and security tooling. The price moves with headcount, the software you run, and the security requirements your clients and insurer impose. We quote after a short assessment, so the number reflects your firm rather than an average.

Do you support our practice management software? Our helpdesk supports the practice and document management platforms firms actually run, and we manage the integrations between them, Microsoft 365, and your remote access setup. Tell us your stack during the assessment and we will be specific about what we handle and how.

How fast do you respond when something breaks? You reach a live, US-based person any hour of the day; there is no phone tree and no ticket black hole. Urgent matters, a down system before a filing deadline for instance, are worked immediately rather than queued.

Can you help with our cyber insurance application? Yes. We complete the technical questionnaire with you, provide evidence for the controls already in place, and implement the ones your carrier requires, such as multifactor authentication, endpoint detection and response, and tested backups.

What happens if our firm experiences a data breach? Our security team investigates, contains the incident, and documents what was accessed, which is the groundwork your counsel needs for obligations like the 30-day notice window under Florida law and the client notification duties described in ABA Formal Opinion 483. We handle the technical response; notification decisions stay with you and your counsel.
